About Me

This is me, in case you were questioning my existence.
Thank you for visiting my blog.

I started this blog in 2011 after discovering that revision is boring and cake is fun.
Going into my final years at school, everyone else was hitting the books and I had just discovered the art of 'procrasti-baking'.  The beauty of procrasti-baking is that because you have created an object, it feels like you have done something productive with your time. A cupcake is obviously a totally valid reason not to learn what a subduction zone is.

To the delight of my friends, I started to bake more and more and actually got pretty good. I loved browsing through the baking blogosphere to get inspiration and make my own creations.

The words 'Lily' and 'cake' became synonymous in my friendship group, and I am pretty sure the only reason people wanted to hang out with me was so that I would bake them something on demand. I started this blog as an online storage for all my recipes so that I could store all my creations in one place, making it very easy to show off my skillz.

I wanted to progress things. I considered setting up a bakery or applying for GGBO but decided that wasn't really my jam. In 2012 I ran a summer baking course for children which was successful and I thoroughly enjoyed.

Unfortunately things slowed down when real life took over and I went to university to study Geography. However, this didn't extinguish my love of sugary delights and I spent some time working at Lola's Cupcakes HQ in 2013.

I am now a graduate on the job hunt and have the time to re-discover my past hobbies. I am still expected to bake on demand at various social gatherings but the joy I get in return makes it all worth it.

The aim of this blog is really just for me to store all my creations but I would love to hear what you have to say about it all.

BIG LOVE
